Senior/Lead Pipeline Engineer

Location: Aberdeen or Tonbridge

About Jee 

Jee is a leading independent multi-discipline subsea engineering and training company operating in the global oil, gas and renewables industries.  Our oil and gas engineering services cover the whole life-of-field, from front end appraise and select studies, through FEED and detailed design, through to integrity management, operations support and decommissioning. In the renewables sector we cover subsea cables on offshore wind farms, providing design, integrity management, and monitoring services. Jee’s training division delivers 100+ technical courses a year in all the major oil and gas hubs.

 

The Role

We are currently looking for Senior/Lead Pipeline Engineers to be based in either our Tonbridge or Aberdeen offices. Candidates should have a minimum of 6 years of experience in a field relating to pipeline engineering.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Technical Work:
  • Develop pipeline integrity management policies, strategies and plans
  • Perform pipeline fitness for service assessments, risk assessments and lifetime extension assessments
  • Act as consultant at client’s offices (where required)
  • Prepare and check engineering calculations, particularly using Excel and Mathcad
  • Check and authorise FE analyses (typically Abaqus CAE and coded input decks)
  • Write professional and concise reports, specifications, and procedure
  • Prepare and give presentations to clients
  • Work within QMS, suggesting improvements and participating in quality audit
  • Write and update Jee’s technical courses (PowerPoint)

 

Supervision and Leadership:
  • Lead multi-disciplinary project team
  • Line management and IMechE mentoring
  • Instruct, supervise and feedback to junior engineer

Sales and Account Management:
  • Write proposals in conjunction with sales and leadership team, and head of service line
  • Act as client technical contact / representative for key clients
  • Cross-sell Jee services and be a Jee champion inside and outside of the office

 

Project Management:
  • Planning and costs schedules, project controls
  • Review client contracts and support negotiations with client
  • Select subcontractors and monitor progress for on-time delivery
  • Integrate work/product from subcontractor into Jee delivery
  • Reporting and progress assessment

Person Specification

  • 2.1 Master’s degree or higher in engineering, aeronautics, naval architecture, maths, or physics
  • Right to work in the UK

 

Knowledge

  • Good MS Office Skills, Excel and Word
  • Specialism in integrity management of pipelines and associated infrastructure

 

Experience 

  • Minimum of 6 years – 10 years’ experience including time working in a similar role
  • Proven client relationship skills within an engineering project-based environment
  • Offshore experience and BOSIET (desirable)
  • IMechE Chartership or equivalent (desirable)
  • Experience of line management and mentoring and coaching senior engineers (desirable)
  • Mathcad and FEA skills, particularly Abaqus, FS2000 (desirable)

  • Ability to prioritise workload and communicate to stake holders
  • Good MS Office Skills, particularly Excel and Word
