Offshore Remedial Works

Offshore Expertise: Integrating Theory and Practice in Remedial Works

Our "Offshore Remedial Works" course offers a detailed study of offshore operations, covering inspection, investigation, and repair processes. It combines theoretical and practical learning, including real-world case studies, to equip participants with essential skills for preventing and solving common offshore problems. The course focuses on preparatory work like excavation design and surface preparation, and guides learners through various repair scenarios, emphasising diving and ROV operations. It also covers repair methods, major repairs, isolation requirements, procedure development, process safety, and pre-deployment testing. Additionally, the course explores remedial work designs, including stabilisation options and rock-dump berm design.

Module Highlights

Day 1 - Foundations of Offshore Inspection and Repair: Techniques, Scenarios, and Safety

The first day of our course introduces crucial inspection and investigation techniques, covering common problems, various inspection methods, and analysis through a case study. It then covers essential preparatory work, including excavation design, coating removal, and surface preparation. The focus shifts to repairs, exploring different scenarios, diving and ROV operations, and understanding various repair methods, major repairs, and isolation requirements. The day concludes with a session on execution and testing, covering procedure development, process safety, pre-deployment testing, practical execution, and post-repair testing, illustrated with a case study.

Day 2 – Advanced Remedial Works: Design Strategies and Real-World Applications

The second day dives into common remedial works, addressing stabilisation options, span and buckle remediation, and the installation of protection measures, including retrofitting of anodes. A detailed case study on buoyant span provides insights into problem background, assessment, remediation, and lessons learned. The day concludes with an in-depth exploration of remediation design, focusing on rock-dump berm design, protection requirements, mattress considerations, and the impact of seabed mobility.
