Module Highlights

Day 1 - Pipeline Integrity: Systems, Risk-Based Inspection, and Case Studies

Addresses offshore pipeline integrity, emphasizing management systems with a focus on processes, documentation, and standards. Delve into risk-based inspection, covering the RBI process, criticality assessment, inspection methods, and frequency, illustrated by a case study on a steel catenary riser. Examine a case study involving pipeline installation failure, encompassing failure investigation, repair, and lessons learned

Day 2 – Ensuring Resilient Pipeline Performance: Design, Installation, and Operational Integrity

Covers integrity considerations in the design and installation phases, addressing steel pipeline and riser design, installation processes, and pre-commissioning activities. Additionally, it features a case study on installation and operational failure, exploring field development, flowline and riser design, installation challenges, failure detection, causes, consequences, repair options, and lessons learned. The module concludes with insights into integrity during operation, covering flow assurance, operational remediation, and inspection methods.

Day 3 – Operational Failures, Flexible Integrity, and Lessons Learned

Highlights a case study on pipe-in-pipe failure during operation, exploring pipeline design, failure analysis, repair options, considerations for a new pipeline, and lessons learned. It further examines a case study on pipeline operational failure, providing insights into the problem's background, buoyant span assessment, remedial works, and lessons learned. The module concludes with a focus on flexible integrity management, covering codes, standards, materials, inspection methods, and addressing incidents related to design, installation, deterioration, and damage.

Day 4 – Pulsations, Umbilical Integrity, and Lessons from Failures

Section features a case study on flow-induced pulsations, exploring the theory, dependencies, potential problems, corrective actions, and lessons learned. The module then addresses the integrity management of umbilicals, covering design, manufacture, installation, and operation. Additionally, it includes a case study on umbilical failure at the Hudson Field, investigating blockages in inhibitor and methanol hoses, and drawing valuable lessons from the incident.
