A. You have the following options:

  • If you transfer more than 3 weeks before a course start date, there will be a £200 or $400 administration charge.
  • If you transfer 3 weeks or less before a course, an administration fee of £400 + VAT is payable for courses paid in Sterling and US$800 for courses paid in US$
  • You are welcome to substitute another person without penalty at any time.

You can cancel:

  • If you cancel 3 weeks or less before a course, or fail to attend, the full price is payable.

Q.  I need to cancel my course booking.  Is there a penalty?

A.  If you are unable to transfer to another course or substitute a colleague and have to cancel your course booking, then there are penalties.

If you cancel more than 3 weeks before a course you will be charged £200 + VAT for courses held in Aberdeen and US$400 for courses held in Houston, Kuala Lumpur and Perth, with any balance being refunded.

If you cancel 3 weeks or less before a course, or fail to attend, the full price is payable.

Q.  I need to arrange my flight home at the end of my course.  What time will the course finish?

A.  Generally, courses in Aberdeen and Kuala Lumpur start at 9.00 a.m. and finish at 5.00 p.m, whilst those in Houston start at 8.00 a.m. and finish at 4.00 p.m.  Although often the course is timed to finish a little earlier on the last day.

If you need to leave the course slightly early to catch a flight home, we understand, but would ask that you discuss your departure time with the tutor during the early part of the course.

Q. What is included in the course delegate fee?

A. The course delegate fee includes:

  • Course tuition
  • Lunch and refreshments

  • A certificate of completion

if you book less than 10 days before the course start date, we cannot guarantee that the notes will be available for you at the course. Where this is the case, you can request that the notes be sent to you after the course but you will need to pay for the postage, packaging and any additional print costs.

Cost of overnight accommodation is not included.

Q. What do I need to bring?

A. Scientific calculators are needed for the following courses:

  • Design of subsea pipelines

Nothing else is required for the courses.  Dress code is whatever you are comfortable with, most delegates choose smart casual.

Q. Will there be any assessments?

A. There are no exams on our public face-to-face courses, but there are short, end-of-day multiple choice assessments for some courses.  However, these are self-marked and do not form part of any formal assessment. Online distance learning courses include multiple choice assessments at the end of modules to ensure you have understood content. Again, these do not form part of any formal assessment.

At request, exams can be set for in-company courses.

Q. Do I receive accreditation for completing a course?

A. The time spent on a course can be used towards training hours for any continual professional development (CPD) scheme, such as that used by IMechE in the United Kingdom or ASME in the United States.

You will also receive a certificate of completion stating CPD points.
