Jee expands its courses porftfolio to include onshore pipelines

Jee, a leading provider of pipeline, riser and subsea engineering and training services, is delighted to announce the addition of a new Onshore Pipelines course to its portfolio of short-duration technical courses. With thousands of kilometres of onshore oil and gas pipelines worldwide, the development of this new course will help engineers gain an understanding of this key area through Jee’s practical pipeline engineering expertise. The first public course will be held on 7-9 September 2010 in Amsterdam.

This foundation level course will provide a comprehensive and complete understanding of onshore pipelines from design, planning and installation through to operation. Subjects include route selection, installation of pipelines in difficult terrains and corrosion and fitness for purpose. It is designed for engineers who are new to the pipeline business and those who are moving to work on or supervise onshore pipeline projects and need a wider appreciation of onshore pipeline engineering.

Jee is best known for its offshore expertise however the company’s capabilities also extend to onshore pipelines. As with the offshore training, all Jee’s courses are written and presented by practising Chartered engineers who have worked in the industry for many years. Jonathan Franklin, Jee’s Engineering Manager and Course Director for the Onshore course will present the first public course in September. Jonathan has spent over a decade working on a range of onshore pipeline projects; his expertise includes defect assessments, failure investigations, qualitative risk assessments, reliability-based design, vibration assessment, design and seismic design.

Ping Ping Chung, Associate Corrosion Engineer at Corus Strip Products UK, and a recent delegate on an in-house Onshore pipelines course has said “It is a really good overview of pipelines. It has provided me with a wide range of knowledge which I have not experienced before.”
