Subsea engineering seen first-hand

Jee today announced that site visits to FMC Technologies’ manufacturing and research and development facility in Houston will be added to the training curriculum of three of its subsea engineering training courses. Delegates will have the opportunity to see the manufacturing of subsea production and processing systems first-hand.
The two hour site visit will include a plant tour showing subsea trees and manifolds being manufactured. Highlights include steel being machined and large blocks welded, control systems being assembled, subsea control modules being upgraded and the initial and final assembly of 50 tonne subsea trees. A 3D interactive fly through of a subsea environment is also included. Delegates will build on knowledge learned in the classroom and be able to visualise some of the technologies available to the oil and gas industry. The visits have been arranged following the success of Jee’s Aberdeen-based courses, including the workshop tours to Acergy’s facilities in Aberdeen.
Trevor Jee, Managing Director of Jee Limited said of the new addition: “We are constantly striving to update and improve our portfolio of pipeline engineering training courses in order to give oil and gas professionals the best learning experience. We are pleased to be working with FMC Technologies to provide our course delegates with valuable first-hand experience of subsea equipment and technology.”
The first site visit is scheduled to run during the Risers, umbilicals and flexibles course, taking place from 16-19 February 2010 at the Hilton Houston Westchase Hotel.
