Jee to facilitate the Laggan-Tormore Basic Engineering Contract
Jee will be assisting a joint venture between Offshore Design Engineering (ODE) and DORIS Engineering to carry out Basic Engineering for TOTAL’s Laggan-Tormore Project, west of Shetland. This contract has been awarded by TOTAL E&P UK Ltd.
Jee’s niche engineering skills are fundamental in designing the flowlines and export pipeline needed to carry out the project, which also covers subsea production facilities, umbilicals and onshore gas treatment plant.
As an important UK Atlantic gas development project, it is expected drilling will start in 2012 with first gas being extracted in 2014. The Laggan-Tormore Development is one of the most significant oil and gas project currently under development in the UK - .
The Laggan and Tormore gas fields are located in 600m (1968ft) water-depth, 125km (78miles) west of the Shetland Islands, and will be produced through two subsea production systems approximately 16km apart. The development is expected to include eight subsea wells connected to a new Gas Processing Plant at Sullom Voe by two 143km 18inch flowlines where the gas will be treated and exported via a new 30 inch 230km pipeline to a tie-in point near TOTAL’s decommissioned MCP01 platform facility and the Frigg UK pipeline (FUKA) and then to the TOTAL operated St Fergus gas terminal, in north-east Scotland.
Commenting on Jee’s involvement, Trevor Jee, Managing Director of Jee Limited said: “We are delighted to be assisting ODE and DORIS in the Laggan-Tormore project for TOTAL. Jee’s expertise in designing subsea pipelines will be a major benefit to the development and we have built a strong relationship with the project team.”
