Operations support
Operations support covers a broad range of activities, including mitigation of known anomalies highlighted through the integrity management system and improvements to systems to avoid potential problems in the future.
Using the ‘prevention is better than cure’ philosophy, clients have found that investing in the development of their current systems at an early stage can avoid costly remedial measures later on. Also, Jee’s experience has proven to be a valuable source of knowledge and expertise in planning how to rectify problems which have developed over the operational life of an offshore system.
A few recent examples of operations support given to our clients include:
Integrity management
A critical task in the effective implementation of an offshore development is to ensure that it is managed through a structured framework. The overall aim of this system is risk management, i.e. minimising the chance of incidents and failure of the development.
An integrity management system is central to meeting these aims, and is now becoming not only desirable but a legal requirement within the oil and gas industry. The objective of an integrity management scheme is to provide a system for managing the integrity of the pipelines and associated cables and umbilicals and so ensure their availability for safe operations.
Each of the four main integrity areas that form the basis of a pipeline integrity management system (PIMS) can be considered to run based on the cyclic system shown.
An integrity management system aims to mitigate or reduce the risk of failure due to wax, hydrates, corrosion, operational error, mechanical failure, or damage from third party activity and natural hazards. It should also pre-plan emergency procedures to put in place in the event of an incident occurring.
Jee has a broad experience in supporting clients in the development and running of their PIMS. We are currently responsible for the integrity management of all of Perenco’s Southern North Sea pipeline network, consisting of 78 subsea pipelines, 14 umbilicals and 6 landlines.
The involvement of Jee in our clients’ PIMS includes:
