The purpose of the project was to perform a study into the fishing activity and intensity in the Gulf of Gabes, assessing the interaction of fishing vessels operating in the region with the flowlines, umbilicals and wellheads located on the seabed.
This work included:
- Calculation of the anticipated number of pipeline, umbilical and wellhead crossings
- Calculation of the pipeline and umbilical impact and overtrawling/pullover loads
- Calculation of the wellhead impact and snagging loads
- Denting analysis
- Pipeline hooking analyses
- Finite element analysis of the pipeline response to the pullover loads
- Multiple overtrawling/pullover analysis
The results of these calculations and finite element analyses will allow the development of protection philosophies for the pipelines, umbilicals and wellheads that are planned to be introduced to the Gulf of Gabes in the near future.
